Floating Christmas

At the Philharmonic we will hear material from the album "Floating Christmas". This project was initiated by Duet Jackpot, the finalists of the 10th jubilee edition of ‘Must Be The Music’. The orchestra is made up of Szczecin musicians, who for many years have been the showcases of the city, representing Szczecin on both domestic and foreign stages.

Whenever December approaches, family disputes over the superiority of Christmas over Easter return. The dilemma is, as you know, unsolvable. Anyway, there are a lot of similar discussions. Around February, we discuss St Valentine's Day – that it is not our holiday, that it is a flood of foreign traditions etc. It is similar with the conflict between enthusiasts of the Polish tradition of Dziady (in English grandfathers) and the supporters of pumpkins with eyes and films with thrills. One more recent dilemma of an unsolvable nature has been added. Should we sing only our Christmas carols during the holidays or can we afford a little bit of American slack ... On Sunday evening, the Floating Orchestra will undoubtedly cross Christmas traditionalists and will present a whole range of American Christmas songs once sung by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
