"The Steppe" by Zygmunt Noskowski is one of the most important achievements of Polish symphonic music of the nineteenth century – the first symphonic poem fulfilling the assumptions of the genre. Listeners will find here echoes of both dynamic mazurka and nostalgic dumka.
The works of the twentieth century will be heard and performed by the Symphony Orchestra and a soloist – an outstanding clarinetist, Jean Michał Bertelli. He graduated with honors from Thomas Friedli at the Conservatoire Supérieur in Geneva. Referred by Sir John Eliot Gardiner, for five years he was the first clarinet of the London Baroque Soloists.
