"One of the greatest living pianists" – so writes the "Gramophone" magazine of Jonathan Plowright – the famous British musician boasting a gold medal of the London Royal Academy of Music and a Fulbright scholarship.
He is also a world-renowned ambassador of music of Polish Romanticism: he gained fame as an interpreter of rarely performed piano works by Paderewski, Melcer, Stojowski et al.
These interests had brought the artist to Łukasz Borowicz, a young conductor who also willingly reminds the audience of less familiar Polish masterpieces. Their paths had crossed during recording albums for Hyperion, on which, along with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, they perpetuated compositions of Żeleński and Zarzycki. In the years 2007-2015 Łukasz Borowicz was the artistic director of the Polish Radio Orchestra.
