Maria Anna Sydor - Assistant Conductor, Szczecin Philharmonic
Maria Anna Sydor was born in Oberlin, Ohio, USA in a Polish – American family with musical traditions. Since 2020 Sydor is the Assistant Conductor at the M. Karlowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin. She obtained a Bachelor of Music in Conducting Music Ensembles (2014) and later a Masters of Music in Choral Conducting (2016) in Warsaw at the Frederic Chopin’s University as well as a Masters of Music Opera and Symphonic Conducting (2018) at the Academy of Music in Katowice. Sydor has performed at different music halls including the Silesian Philharmonic, the Silesian Opera, the Gold Hall in Szczecin Philharmonic, the Mazovia Institute of Culture, the Frederic Chopin University of Music, the Karol Szymanowski Music Academy in Katowice, the Warsaw Music Society, the Music Academy in Wroclav, the Royal Lazienki Park, the Capital Cultural Education Centre, the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Hall and in the Presidential Palace in Warsaw to many prestigious public audiences, including US President, Barack Obama.

Sydor has worked with such ensembles and orchestras like: the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony and Chamber Orchestra of the Music Academy in Wroclaw, the Choir of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Mechanics of the Warsaw University, the Ensemble Echo – Polish Association of the Blind in Warsaw. She has conducted various musical forms and her repertoire ranges fromtraditional to contemporary music.
