Tuula Jukola-Nuorteva - Head of Education, Finnish National Opera and Ballet (Helsinki)
Tuula Jukola-Nuorteva, MMus, studied music education at the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki, followed by post graduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London, at the Performance and Communication Skills department. From 1995 to 2007 she worked the Royal Opera House’s Education department as Music animateur and composer leading numerous education projects and events. From 1996 to 2001 she was Musical Director and later also the Artistic Director at the ENO Baylis program’s youth opera Live Culture. Tuula Jukola-Nuorteva has led numerous performance and communication skills professional development courses for orchestra musicians and teachers in UK and Finland. She has over 15 years of international experience as Music teacher / Head of Music Department. OTAVA has published her teaching materials and music for primary /secondary schools. She was appointed Head of Education of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet in September 2010. Tuula became an elected member of RESEO Steering Committee (European Network for Opera, Music and Dance Education) 2013-2017 and she is also a former Chair of RESEO Steering Committee.
