Marianna Dobkowska - Curator (Warsaw)
Curator of exhibitions, residencies and art projects, editor of publications. She has co-organized the residency program at the Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw nearly since the beginning. Curatorial practice is seen as a tool in building creative relationships and situations based on a long-term, frequently international, collaboration combining practices derived from the fields of visual arts, performative arts, education and activism. She obtained MA in art history from the University of Warsaw, as well as a post-graduate diploma in curatorial studies from the Jagiellonian University of Cracow. She received scholarships from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage ("Young Poland", 2012; the scholarship of the Minister, 2016). Scholarship holder with CEC Artslink (New York) and Backers Foundation (Tokyo). She curated and co-curated projects such as: Public AIR, We're Like Gardens, Porthos: Marszewski on Marszałkowska Street, and Akcja PRL (Action Polish People’s Republic), held in public space and assuming an active involvement of the general public. She is a co-author and co-curator of the international curatorial seminars Re-Directing: East (2013-). During her stay in Indonesia, she researched the area of socially and politically sensitive artistic practices, exploring the working methods of Javanese collectives. Together with Krzysztof Łukomski, she curated the two-year project Social Design for Social Living (2015-2016), presented as part of the 2015 Jakarta Biennale. It was followed with the exhibition of the same title at the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta and the exhibition-meeting in Gotong Royong. Things We Do Together (2017-2018) at the Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art. Editor with The Residents magazine featuring the residents of Ujazdowski Castle and curator of the Re-Directing seminar: East x Empathic Pedagogies – Future Intimacies 2020. She collaborates with the international network Red de Pedagogias Empaticas. Together with Krzysztof Łukomski, she is the editor of the volume Things We Do Together: The Post-reader (published by Mousse Publishing and Zamek Ujazdowski).
